This is me…

I’m part of a passionate team who run Spring Harvest – an annual event which attracts over 30,000 people of all ages.  Spring Harvest is a place where ‘people encounter God, get changed by that encounter and then go and change the world.’ Throughout the year we make resources which help Christians live out their faith in their homes, work, communities and churches.

I’m also part of the team who run Youthwork the conference which happens in Eastbourne in November and aims to celebrate, equip and inspire youth workers.  Our theme this year is ‘Surrender – what does discipleship focused youth work look like?’

I’m also involved in a few others things…

  • HOPE – I’m on the Leadership Team.  HOPE exists to resource Christians for community involvement and ‘to do more, to it together and do it word and action.’

The Sophia Network exists to connect women in youth work and ministry, to access training, develop skills and share wisdom. You can visit the Sophia website here.

We focus our energy in four areas:

  • partnership – through everything we do we encourage women and men to work together in ways that reflect the heart of God.
  • relationships – facilitating enhanced working relationships between youth workers; creating environments in which female youth workers can build relationships with each other; emphasising the importance of mentoring for youth workers and young people.
  • voice – advocacy on behalf of women in youth work; raising awareness of how gender affects youth work and ministry.
  • training – providing excellent training to develop confidence, skills and professional expertise.

Our ultimate aim is to encourage women and men to work together more closely in a way that reflects the heart of God, but we recognize that sometimes issues need to be addressed before women can contribute on a level playing field.

I also work with Vicky Beeching on her stuff, which in real terms means wearing the hat of ‘Manager’ but really just being her best friend and facilitating her ministry and calling – and having a lot of laughs! You can find out more about Vicky on her blog, her Myspace, her Facebook or her Twitter.
